I will be speaking about my new novel A Box of Birds at this event at the Hay Festival on 27 May. My piece on neuroscience and the novel (exploring the themes of A Box of Birds) appeared recently in the Guardian Review.
Pieces of Light has been shortlisted for the 2013 Best Book of Ideas Prize (sponsored by Foyles and the Bristol Festival of Ideas). The winner will be announced on 20 May.
In the US, the book has been a PW Pick in Publishers Weekly and the Editors' Choice (book of the week) at the iBookstore. I wrote on the topic of memory for TIME Ideas and the Daily Beast, and was interviewed about the book on NPR's Weekend Edition. In the UK, the book was a science Book of the Year in both the Sunday Times and New Scientist.
Pieces of Light was published in the US on 19 March.
