I gave a keynote lecture at the Memory Network's inaugural meeting in Roehampton in October 2011. I also appeared on a panel with A S Byatt discussing 'The Future of Memory'.

I spoke with Patricia Waugh on 'Modernism and the Mind' at the Institute of English Studies in London in October 2011.

I gave a talk at the British Science Festival in Bradford in September 2011 on the topic of 'Creating suspense in fiction'.

I gave a seminar at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in June 2011 with the title 'Thinking aloud about mental voices'.

I spoke on children's understanding of the past and future at this IAS event in Durham in November 2010.

In March 2010 I gave a lecture at the Royal Institution with the title 'Little Minds, Big Ideas'.

In December 2009 I gave a public lecture on 'Thinking aloud about hearing voices' at the University of Geneva.

At the University of Manchester in November 2009 I gave a keynote entitled 'Science, story and mind-writing' at the ESRC Writing, Knowledge and Imagination interdisciplinary event.

I recently spoke at Brentwood and Chigwell Schools in Essex on the topic of psychology and fiction writing.

In March 2009, I addressed the Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University on the topic 'Writing about science'.

I spoke at the Centre for Family Research, University of Cambridge, on the topic 'What is it like to be a small child?'

I gave an address at the Digital Lives conference at the British Library in London in February 2009. The title was 'Constant observers: Children in the camcorder's eye'.

I recently talked at Café Scientifique events in Newcastle and Durham.
